Position Summary:
The West Branch Training Center is responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of technical trainings for Nordex and Acciona wind turbines as well as all safety related content. Service / Traveling technicians, commissioners, customers, and subcontractors are trained by the Training Center on a wide range of topics – turbine control, maintenance, troubleshooting or climb training are just a few of the topics. To conduct these trainings, we have a training center at our location in West Branch, Iowa.
Responsibilities:
- Executing Major Corrective Training such as Blade exchange and repair, Gearbox replacements or Main Bearing swaps
- Conducting Technical Training with focus on (electrical) components of onshore wind turbines (VFD, pitch, yaw) as well as maintenance and service procedures
- Conducting HSE Trainings (Climb Training, First Aid, CPR, Fire awareness, Manual Handling and others) for Wind Turbines
- Development of On-the-Job Demonstration or At Site Training Content for Major Corrective works
- Implementing different learning formats (classroom training, on-the-job-training, virtual learning) to qualify customers, subcontractors, and staff members
- Qualifying trainer colleagues by means of the train-the-trainer concept
- Taking over product responsibility for defined training programs and trainings
- Being interface between departments, experts as well as internal and external clients
- Provides guidance in HSE training program development (GWO, BST or OSHA) and responsible for the provision of technical expertise for curriculum and content development.
- Leads the development of personnel training needs assessment for determination of learning objectives, training curriculum, delivery method, and comprehension evaluation.
- Develops HSE training curricula as required based on internal Service as well as Health, Safety, and Environment Management System standards and requirements.
- Acts as subject matter expert for all technical and safety related training development, trainer guidelines, train-the-trainer and method determination.
- Plans in collaboration with the training coordinator training classes and maintains learning management system and training record.
- Develops online training content by using online authoring tools such as Articulate 360 or Easy Generator.
- Designs and oversees the delivery of learning modules using computer-based and web-based training outputs for classroom training, demonstrations, workshops, and on-the-job training plans for remote and on-site wind farm personnel.
- Consults with subject matter experts and various department heads for content accuracy and superior delivery.
- Provides coaching to content presenters (i.e. train-the-trainer) to ensure content is effectively presented.
- Develops records for completed training and provides records to P&C for record retention for each trained employee.
- Willingness to be cross trained in other training topics.

Requirements:
- Degree in a relevant technical or safety field; preferably electrical, mechanical or IT qualification
- Minimum 5 years professional field experience in a technical or safety area; ideally in the wind energy industry
- Conceptual and analytical thinking

- Advanced written and spoken communication skills
- Excellent ability to convey complex technical and safety content
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable speaking to audience
- Capacity to work in a team with high motivation and enthusiasm

- Strong skills in speaking and presenting in front of audience
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to obtain required information, assess needs, and effectively transfer knowledge.
- Familiarity with GWO BST, BTT or OSHA, ANSI Standards
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Articulate 360(SCORM), Success factors and Database usage required.
- Familiarity with online Training production and editing.
- Willingness to move to Nordex HQ in West Branch, Iowa
- Maintain current certificates and professional development requirements to enable role as instructor.
- Must be able and willing to travel (50% or more).
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
- Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
