Position Summary:

As Senior Cost Estimator, Project Competitiveness, you will also be responsible for ensuring the cost competitiveness of Nordex USA wind turbines in the North American market. You will analyze past and present financial data of Nordex projects, cost estimates for parts and services, build cash flows, and identify risks to support commercial and sales decisions. The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in the continued success of the company working closely with all aspects of the business including Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, and the Leadership team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain cost estimating models for wind energy projects.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
  • Review and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitiveness.
  • Create project schedules based on collaboration with global production planning, logistics and project management teams, for use in developing the cost and cash flow assumptions in customer quotations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations to Project Teams
  • Conduct in-depth cost analysis of wind tower generator projects, including material, labor, transportation, services, financial and overhead costs.
  • Estimate costs for new projects, including identifying and quantifying potential cost risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain cost and financial models, databases, and spreadsheets to support cost estimation and analysis.
  • Analyze and reports on cost trends, variances, and cash flow implications to identify areas for cost optimization and support informed decision-making.

Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting/Finance, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
  • 5+ of experience in cost estimation, cost analysis, or a related area with an emphasis on financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting in a comparable industry.
  • Experience in the wind energy, renewable energy, or a project-oriented manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in the renewable energy industry, preferably in wind energy.
  • Ability to identify areas of financial risk, inform management and develop contingency plans.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel modeling skills.
  • High level of computer literacy to keep up with current analytical tools and monitor business performance; experience with SAP platform is a plus.
  • Ability to work in an environment of continuous change and different challenges.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and requests.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to boil down trends into concise operational reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the staff within the company.
  • Positive and professional attitude.

 

The pay for this role is exempt at $85-95k annually with up to a 10% bonus.  Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
