Position Summary:
As an HSE Manager, Subcontractors, you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and acquiring expectations for the physical protection of all the contractors at all facilities and ensure day-to-day EHS support to branch leadership and operating teams within North America. Support includes coaching, teaching, and evaluating field personnel on safe operating behaviors and the design, development, and implementation of safety and risk control programs. Functions as a subject matter expert and consultant to help internal clients build sustainable loss improvement processes within their operations
Responsibilities:
- Assesses reports and data compiled by contractors, consultants, government agencies, and others to determine environmental impact and ensure compliance with technical specifications or regulatory and/or permit requirements.
- Responsible with managing (including the screening and selection) contractors assigned to supporting various projects. As part of risk management responsibilities, review the work product of contractors, and identify needs to meet project expectations.
- Conducts audits of North American contractors to determine compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the review, updates and evaluation of Nordex HSE Agreement with contractors.
- Works to maintain global alignment for HSE Management Systems and daily HSE activities.
- Supports cross-functional teams in the planning, facilitation, and completion of HSE projects.
- Works with functional leaders to review analytical data of HSE-related incidents.
- Interfaces with Sourcing Department to align with contractors’ expectations/requirements.
- Interfaces with contractors, clients and customers as needed in a manner that reflects positively on the company.
- Supports HSE Director and Officers with direction to assure that a system is in place to monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, local regulations during the O&M, phase of operations.
- Interprets and implements the Global HSE requirements.
- Work in conjunction with HSE team(s) to implement policies and procedures with contractors
- Creates records and reports for functional management areas indicating results and conclusions with appropriate recommendations for organizational implementation.
- Provides functional guidance to assist with process controls using Root Cause Analysis (RCA/8D) methods and proactive analytical problem solving for project management activities.
- Liaises with our Supply/Engineering/Purchasing/Regional HSE team regarding daily issues.

Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree with an advanced degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or an equivalent professional designation desirable
- Experience with programmatic (Compliance and Performance) audits/inspections including record keeping, and action-item resolution
- Comply with all applicable regional and local HSE regulations, including customer-specific guidelines.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a Corporate Safety Department and wind farm experience desirable.
- Advanced technical knowledge of Industrial Safety disciplines (General Industry, Construction, Behavior-Based Safety, etc.) related to construction and operation of power generation projects, and related U.S. and Canadian federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Able to complete OSHA 500 or 501 trainer – Preferred already authorized.
- Proven Industrial Safety leadership skills, and an ability to coach and lead environmental efforts.
- Ability to positively represent the Safety process to internal and external stakeholders.
- Must possess the ability to think and analyze situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate and manage change, and deliver results.
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential, most importantly strong team-building skills within a rapidly growing environment.
- Must be capable of positively influencing the management team when necessary.
- Independent, detail-oriented, creative, tenacious, and flexible are essential characteristics.
- Proficient in the following application programs: Microsoft Office 2003 (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Standard, Photo Editors.
- Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of less than 265 lbs in order to use climb equipment.
- Must be able and willing to travel (Approximately 60%)
- Must have a valid driver’s license with no restrictions
- Must be eligible to hold a Passport for International travel
