Position Summary:

As Cost Control Manager, you will be responsible for the cost control (actuals, planned cost, risk, and opportunities and forecasting) of all the Onshore activities within project execution, including logistics operations, construction, and commissioning-related activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Regional Manager position responsible for ensuring budget control of Onshore activities for projects in the region.
  • Support CPM and PM in any need they have related to the Operations team in a region, providing a contact point for general issues (in project-related topics communication between CPM and Operations team must be direct and bidirectional)
  • Consolidate the information of all projects and report it to the regional management in a timely and accurate way, guaranteeing that the information is available for decision-makers.
  • Initial budget study and communication of needed changes, once the project reporting cycle is launched by PM
  • Review the cost report and claim management tool, paying special attention to the calculations of the extension of time and the claimable costs to subcontractors and client, as well as the risks and opportunities and the correct originator allocation of the extra costs
  • Train, monitor, and support the Operations team in the region, especially with issues related to the processes, systems, and concepts.
  • Supervise the correct and homogeneous management of project costs in execution and completed projects. Collect data from different projects, standardize and report them internally.
  • Management of the Purchase orders and invoices for the subcontractors.
  • Keeping track of the site costs of the project and coordinating with the Operations PM and other cost owners
  • Review and suggest corrections on the cost reports of the projects in a given region, making sure the format is used correctly and homogenously, and challenging the information received from Operations team.
  • Analyze and draw conclusions from the obtained data. Identify deviations and recurrence for budget improvement (lessons learned).
  • Collect and audit budgets and projections from different cost owners of project operations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the team regarding control support and training for those involved in the project.
  • Analyze the evolution of surpluses, shortages, economic projections, and contingencies of each cost owner and operations budget, along with their risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor the cash out of projects for the region, identifying and coordinating billing and payment obligations for each project in coordination with the operations team.
  • Generate and monitor purchase orders (POs) and receipt of invoices and payments.
  • Implementation and use of SAP for cost controlling of the operations
  • Continuous interactions with the Operations team and contract managers on-site, solving doubts and giving the proper indications
  • Report on a weekly basis the consolidated status of the projects to the regional management function and back office

 

Direct Reports:

Functional reports (not hierarchical reports): Operations staff, Project Managers, Quality Staff.  

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounting or International Trade
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in cost control in the Energy projects Business or construction business.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a cost control coordinator or manager in the Energy projects Business or construction business, with a preference for wind industry experience.
  • Experience in implementing and standardizing project control processes.
  • Fluent in professional English.
  • Proficiency in French is desired.
  • High proficiency in SAP and JDE.
  • High level of commitment.
  • Honesty and transparency in all dealings.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Adaptability to changing situations and requirements.
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required with the ability to obtain a passport.
  • High proficiency in SAP and Excel
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
