Position Summary:

As a SCADA Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing, repairing, and maintaining power control concepts, local options, and other automated functionalities in power plants based on Nordex standards and customer-specific requirements. You ensure knowledge transfer as well as all kinds of solutions around our SCADA products to resolve issues/projects with a high level of complexity.

 

Responsibilities:

• Works on incidents and change management requests in close coordination with NXG Engineering to ensure system availability and reliability at commercially operated wind farms. Tasks include advanced troubleshooting, coordination with contractors and software supplier’s experts, root cause analysis, etc. Intervention can be on-site or remotely.

• Performs detailed problem analysis on critical incidents to prevent reoccurring issues and improve resolution time.

• Performs advanced configuration/programming for process control systems operation and maintenance, makes changes to existing programs, configures tools, reviews and approves programming by integrators and functional operation of all process control systems, and participates in factory/site acceptance testing.

• Takes part in system improvements and new projects: develop scope of work, review design and proposal with suppliers, selection of suppliers, implementation and testing, commissioning, O&M team support.

• Works with the Operation team to address the business needs and provide appropriate technical solutions.

• Provides appropriate and timely technical advice on matters relating to SCADA and control systems.

• Receive, install, configure, and calibrate equipment, servers, networks, and other components.

• Conducts maintenance and upgrades.

• Monitor data communications.

• Responds quickly to system emergencies.

• Troubleshoots PLC circuit and system faults.

• Sets up network devices and ensure the security of the SCADA system components from outside attacks.

• Tests and troubleshoots equipment and software to diagnose and repair malfunctions.

• Sets and monitor alarm functions.

• Calibrates test equipment.

• Manages access to the system.

• Manages inventory of equipment and software.

• Complies with all accepted change control procedures.

• Understand and comply with applicable federal and state regulatory agency reporting and documentation requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Electrical/Electronics/IT discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with complex networks and SCADA architecture.
  • Ability to read schematics to diagnose communication problems
  • Knowledge of network engineering and IT (PC handling, Windows applications, PC configurations, Virus scanners, interfaces, backup)
  • Ability to write logic along with proven experience commissioning it in the field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and conduct training
  • Knowledge of Wind Turbine SCADA and renewable energy systems will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of power plant and electrical systems maintenance and operations will be highly regarded
  • Programming skills preferred
  • Electrical system knowledge. Certification to operate high voltage facilities is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills are a must (Proficiency with MS Access, Word & Excel)
  • Rigorous and structured in the execution of work
  • Analytical abilities to collect, and evaluate numerical data and complete both internal and external reporting
  • Open to change management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare technical and non-technical documentation
  • Willing to travel to wind farms for on-site training and troubleshooting as needed
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once to organize and prioritize work, prepare plans and meet deadlines
