Position Summary:
The Converter Expert will lead the Technical Support team in solving issues with power converter components across multiple Nordex wind turbine platforms. They will be responsible for motor drive frequency converters as well as power converters controlling DFIG operation; utilizing site inspections and predictive condition monitoring systems to determine components needing attention as well as which steps to take to prevent failure. They will also work to determine the types of repairs most prudent for given failures.
Responsibilities:
- Support Service Operations in achieving reliable turbine operations with availability on target.
- Meet regularly with back-office support groups as well as on-site teams to discuss issues being detected and execution of solutions.
- Utilize workflow management software to communicate across organizational levels.
- Provide technical leadership for interdepartmental teams working to solve converter component issues.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to improve suite of predictive monitoring tools.
- Maintain an overview of issues impacting fleet identifying and mitigating risks to solution deployment.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements:
- Certification in electrical engineering, BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with power generation or wind turbine technology
- Strong communication ability, with operations and engineering teams as well as Service Management
- Excellent English language skills, German or Spanish would be beneficial.
- Electrical system Knowledge, specifically power generation
- Computer literate, in Microsoft Office, SAP, databases, and workload management systems
- Excellent in planning, organizing, systematic problem solving and End-to-End Thinking
- High Capacity for Teamwork and Collaboration Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to constructively and productively work with others to achieve the best outcome for both the customer and the business.

- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
- Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
