Service Technician-Macintyre

As a Service Technician, you will work directly at the MacIntyre Wind Farm (Queensland), one of the largest wind farms in Australia, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of wind turbines that drive the transition toward 100% renewable energy.
 
YOUR TASKS:
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbines, including troubleshooting, fault‑finding, and autonomous simple repairs.
  • Carry out complex repairs and main component exchanges in collaboration with Lead Technicians and subcontractors.
  • Conduct commissioning, inspections, safety analyses (electrical, mechanical, energy sources) and complete all required documentation (LOTO, JSEA, reports).
  • Analyse technical defects, communicate solutions with the Service Coordinator and Local Operations Manager, and update systems (e.g., Osapiens).
  • Ensure high‑quality, on‑time work following manuals, regulations, and Nordex safety standards.
  • Monitor spare parts, manage inventory, and take responsibility for tools, materials, and site equipment.
  • Support 24/7 wind farm operations through rotating shifts, overtime, and on‑call duties.
  • Professionally represent Nordex, maintain certifications, and contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices.
 
YOUR PROFILE:
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident with trade qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical disciplines.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hydraulic, electrical or mechanical environments.
  • Comfortable working at heights, medically fit, and able to climb turbine towers.
  • Strong English communication skills and ability to interpret technical documentation (electrical & hydraulic schematics).
  • A proactive team player with strong problem‑solving, analytical and decision‑making skills.
  • Computer literate, with experience using MS Office; familiarity with SAP or workload management systems is advantageous.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise work effectively in fast‑paced operational environments.
  • Willingness to work in shifts, travel as required, and engage in ongoing training and development.
