POSITION SUMMARY
The role of a Service Technician Special Operations I, Minor Correctives directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a member of the Special Operations Team, the Service Technician Special Operations is responsible for executing special operations in compliance with high safety standards. You would work closely with the operational and back office teams to ensure a high level of availability in the wind farm which will enable high service standard for our customers and promote future company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform wind turbine inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor corrective repairs in accordance with Nordex procedures and safety standards.
- Execute specialized service activities including blade inspections, composite repairs, major component support, lift maintenance, and statutory inspections.
- Perform structural blade repairs using fiberglass reinforcement, epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bagging techniques.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, service instructions, and repair procedures to ensure quality workmanship.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other specialized service equipment.
- Support electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities, including work on medium- and high-voltage systems following required certifications and procedures.
- Complete daily reporting, documentation, material bookings, and work order updates using mobile field service applications and internal systems.
- Manage service vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory to ensure readiness for deployment.
- Participate in field training activities and share technical knowledge and best practices with team members.
- Collaborate effectively with customers, site personnel, and fellow technicians to ensure successful project execution.
- Remain flexible and adaptable to changing project scopes, priorities, and schedules.
Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow all Nordex safety policies, HSE procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conduct pre-job planning, risk assessments, and toolbox talks prior to beginning work.
- Perform daily inspections of PPE, tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
- Report incidents, hazards, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, inspections, and service activities.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company quality standards.
What You'll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Wind Energy Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in wind turbine operations, maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, or field service.
- Experience with composite blade repair techniques, including fiberglass reinforcement, epoxy systems, vacuum bagging, and structural repairs preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, repair specifications, and work instructions.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile reporting systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to climb and work at heights exceeding 300 feet (100 meters).
- Ability to meet OSHA and ANSI fall protection weight requirements of 265 lbs. (120 kg) or less.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
- Willingness to travel up to 100% domestically and internationally for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability under the company's vehicle insurance policy.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and meet all job-related physical requirements.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Passport and Canadian work authorization.

- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
The pay for this role is non-exempt at $29.00 - $32.00 USD hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
