We are seeking a Group Lead Intellectual Property Management (m/f/d) to lead a team of Intellectual Property Engineers and maximize value creation for Nordex through an IP portfolio management fit to Nordex business strategy as well as de-risking Nordex developments. 

 

YOUR TASKS

  • Managing a group of IP Engineers and experts devoted to these tasks:
  • Knowing patent and product portfolios of main wind industry players: wind turbine manufacturers, wind farm owners and operators, component manufacturers as well as digital application developers;
  • Managing relationships with main stakeholders: inventors and valuation and assessment experts as well as project managers and management team of  Nordex, as well as IP law firms and development partners (externally)
  • Understanding the company strategy as well as the strategy of competitors regarding the use of IP
  • Ensuring Nordex retains the competitive advantage by protecting our most relevant IP assets, the ones delivering greater value for our customers, for every Nordex development.
  • Performing invention harvesting sessions and management of all inventions disclosures for defining a the most suitable protection strategy (e.g. patent application or trade secret) for own Nordex developments.
  • Patent drafting and prosecution
  • Freedom to operate analysis and adequate IP risk mitigation measures including filing oppositions and nullity suits.

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Completed M.Sc in Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar with additional training in Intellectual Property and ideally experience in wind technology
  • Ideally, experience in leading a team of IP specialists, acting as a role model with resilience and a positive attitude, having a clear focus on developing the team members
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working on competitive intelligence analysis and intellectual property protection, preferably in the field of renewable energy or related technologies such as IoT, aerospace
  • Comfortable to work and interact frequently with relevant stakeholders across the organization (inventors, external patent attorneys, engineering experts, management)
  • Teamplayer with good communications skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Combining creativity with attention to detail and a systematic and careful way of working
  • Fluency in English required, additional skills in Spanish or German are nice to have
