Component Design Engineer (m/f/d) - Windturbine Tower Systems & Safety Components

This role focuses on the design, specification, and integration of components such as brackets, cable guidance systems, platforms, railings, ladder systems, and service lifts. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of high-performance wind energy systems in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

 

YOUR TASKS:

  • Develop and optimize structural and mechanical components for steel and hybrid wind turbine towers.
  • Ensure the safe and functional integration of mechanical components such as platforms, fall arrest systems, and service lifts in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Create technical specifications, product documentation, and development reports to support the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform analytical and numerical calculations for welded, bent, sheet metal, and aluminum structures to ensure structural integrity.
  • Lead CAD modeling and drawing creation using NX-Unigraphics and manage product data in Teamcenter 14.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (purchasing, quality, service, and assembly) to ensure smooth component integration.
  • Review and validate design outputs from internal and external engineers to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives by optimizing designs for manufacturability and material efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage engineering tasks in development projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and requirements.
  • Provide technical support to external suppliers and assist in quality issue resolution when needed.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Diploma, Master’s, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in mechanical design for steel, aluminum, welded, and sheet metal structures.
  • Strong proficiency in NX-Unigraphics and Teamcenter 14 for CAD modeling and data management.
  • Familiarity with mechanical safety components such as platforms, ladder systems, and cable guides.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to wind turbine construction (e.g., IEC 61400, ISO 13849, DIN EN 50308).
  • Experience in project-based work within cross-disciplinary teams (purchasing, production, logistics, service).
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for project outcomes.
  • Clear and structured communication style with a strong team-oriented mindset.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish and/or German is a plus).
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mechanical design or related fields.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
