POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Field Support Technical Specialist directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a Field Support Technical Specialist in Canada, you will be support and lead field corrective actions to minimize turbine downtime. You will travel to wind farms for on-site training and troubleshooting as needed. You will support French and English-speaking employees.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Supports field Technicians with turbine troubleshooting.
  • Provides new sites with instruction, guidance, and implementation of internal processes.
  • Works with new Site Management and Technician teams to successfully perform day-to-day functions to higher levels of performance.
  • Provides on-site training and evaluation of Technicians for the development and completion of Technical Training on-the-job demonstrations required through appropriate training levels.
  • Available for dispatch to support and/or lead field corrective actions.
  • Supports O&M windfarms within the region with turbine control issues.
  • Evaluates turbine-specific problems and offer suggestions for turbine solutions.
  • Evaluates turbine component failures and communicate problems via Service Now.
  • Works closely with Technical Services to build a strong working knowledge of multiple platforms and models of Wind Turbine Generators.
  • Supports and leads field corrective actions to minimize turbine downtime both remotely and at wind farms.
  • Utilizes Service Now to manage and organize communication, guidance, prioritization, and resolutions of Turbine issues.
  • Analyzes control data to evaluate turbine problems.
  • Works closely with other groups and organizations to establish improvements, data generation, training updates, and documentation.
  • Understands strongly internal processes, systems, and reports.
  • Works proficiently with MS Office suite. (Excel, Outlook, Power BI, Project, etc.)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


WHAT YOU HAVE

  • BA degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of a 2-year technical degree in electrical or electronics, or equivalent work experience
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Ability to read schematics to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once to organize and prioritize work, prepare plans and meet deadlines
  • Ability to coordinate teams to perform inspections and repairs
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts and offer solutions to turbine problems
  • Experience solving technical problems on electrical generating equipment preferred
  • Wind Farm Erection and Commissioning experience preferred
  • Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) experience preferred
  • Electrical generation experience preferred
  • Ability to work within assigned systems to coordinate repairs, troubleshoot, and record all data for use in reporting and further data analysis.
  • Must be willing to travel to wind farms for on-site training and troubleshooting as required
  • Work-based on 8 or 12-hour rotating shifts
  • Flexibility to work overtime
  • Must meet the weight requirement 120kg (265 lbs.) or less to safely utilize climbing equipment and climbing gear
  • Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to obtain a valid passport
  • Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.

  • Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.

 

 

The pay for this role is non-exempt at $45.00 - $55.00 CAD hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
