Project Director

The Project Director is responsible for leading the successful delivery of large‑scale wind farm projects, ensuring full compliance with contractual, technical, financial and HSE requirements. This role provides strategic oversight across all phases of project execution— from planning and engineering to construction and commissioning—while acting as the primary liaison for key customers and senior stakeholders. The Project Director ensures that projects are executed safely, efficiently and profitably, strengthens client relationships, and drives continuous improvement within the organisation.
YOUR TASKS:
- Lead the full lifecycle of large‑scale wind farm projects, from contract award to commercial operation, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and according to contractual obligations.
- Act as the primary senior interface with customers, internal senior management, suppliers and external stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment.
- Oversee and drive project planning, engineering, procurement, logistics, construction and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with Nordex standards, HSE requirements and local regulations.
- Manage project financials: budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow tracking, change orders and risk mitigation strategies.
- Drive high‑level decision‑making, resolving escalations and ensuring strategic alignment between project objectives and company goals.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams (Engineering, Legal, Finance, PMO, HSE, Construction, Service) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project KPIs and prepare executive progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure strong governance, contractual discipline and claims management throughout the project lifecycle.
YOUR PROFILE:
- 10–15+ years leading complex, multi‑million‑dollar renewable or infrastructure projects (wind, solar, grid, heavy industry or EPC), with a proven record of successful delivery.
- Demonstrated expertise managing EPC/BoP contracts, including negotiation, claims management, variations, and risk mitigation in highly technical and regulated environments.
- Strong background leading multidisciplinary and multicultural teams across multiple countries, acting as a senior technical and operational reference point.
- Advanced stakeholder‑management capabilities, engaging effectively with regulators, utilities, contractors, technical partners and senior internal executives.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or similar), with highly valued Project Management certifications (PMP, IPMA, Prince2).
- Deep understanding of EPC contracts, construction law, risk management and commercial governance within the energy sector.
- Strategic thinker with exceptional leadership, communication and negotiation skills, capable of making high‑stakes decisions under pressure and driving results.
- Flexibility to travel and willingness to be regularly based on site in South‑East Queensland to ensure hands‑on leadership and operational excellence.
