We are currently looking to recruit a Electrical Project Engineer on a Permanent basis to join the team in Ireland, supporting sites across Ireland and the UK

 

How can you make a difference?

 

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to the BOP design and WTG integration in utility-scale wind farms. On the job, you will interact with the different project stakeholders and oversee the operations during the project execution for the successful integration of the WTGs, and the power plant controller, including management and coordination of the different steps from design, through planning to commissioning.

 

What will you be doing? 

 

Key responsibilities for this role include: 

 

  • Interfaces with specialists based within the region and the central organisation regarding Grid Code compliance studies and Grid Code compliance testing.
  • Providing “single point of contact” on all electrical issues associated with a wind farm project to the project management team, Local Operations Managers, Engineers and our Customer. 
  • Providing technical support to the Nordex Sales and Tendering teams.
  • Taking ownership of contract requirements and ensuring the Project scope is implemented
  • Specification of HV electrical equipment and SCADA systems.
  • Facilitating factory acceptance tests.
  • Development of signal lists and control philosophy for SCADA systems.
  • Reviewing and approval of detailed SCADA documentation such as network designs and performance specifications.
  • HV contractor scope definition, management and co-ordination.
  • Review and approval of test results (transformer, switchgear, cabling, earthing etc.)
  • Co-ordinate energisation process including approval of switching procedures.
  • Co-ordination of signal testing, dispatch testing, grid code compliance testing and reporting with a view to developing into being able to perform some of these tests.

 

What are we looking for? 

 

The successful candidate will hold a Batchelors or a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and have significant experience with SCADA systems, signal interface (RTU’s / RTACs) with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, database for project operation (OPC and SQL) and HMI for project operation in SCADA systems. 

 

You will have previous experience as a Project Engineer, with significant electrical background and preferably hold qualifications and experience with BOP design in wind power plants.  You will also be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of Irish and GB Grid Code application and testing of wind power plants. 

 

You will be experienced with Substation, wind turbine generators, power plant control systems and hybrid power plant control integration.  Experience of electrical simulation software including DigSilent and PSSE would also be an advantage

 

This role requires the postholder to have knowledge of relevant utility automation and replay protection, electrical power systems and industrial automation systems.  Experience of site commissioning and MV interface testing is also essential to this role.

  • Physically fit as this role will require the postholder to pass a medical to meet the physical demands of this role. 

 

Please this role will require the postholder to travel on a regular basis in UK & Ireland sites with occasional travel to other EU regions and must hold an EU Driving Licence.
