Project Engineer Electrical

YOUR TASKS:
- Lead electrical engineering tasks across all project phases, from design and implementation to operation and maintenance of renewable energy power plants.
- Design and select primary electrical plant, including HV switchgear, transformers and HV cables and design and selection of secondary systems including CTs, VTs, protection devices, STATCOMs and tariff metering.
- Undertake protection studies, load flow and fault studies using appropriate power systems analysis software.
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including Scopes of Work, tender documentation packages, equipment specifications, data sheets and instrumentation setting sheets.
- Develop, review, optimize, mark-up and modify electrical drawings such as single line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing, power losses and grid compliance studies.
- Compile relevant design documentation including design calculations or earthing and protection systems and cable sizing.
- Support clients and project teams during sales, installation, and commissioning phases with technical expertise and practical solutions.
- Apply value engineering principles to deliver cost-effective and high-quality outcomes.
YOUR PROFILE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; postgraduate qualifications in Power Systems or Renewable Energy Engineering are advantageous.

5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within renewable energy, wind energy or utility-scale power generation projects.

Strong experience in HV and MV electrical system design, including substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems and cable networks.

Sound knowledge of power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic analysis, grid compliance assessments and grid connection processes, including Generator Performance Standards (GPS).

Proficiency in DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Good understanding of Australian electrical standards, grid codes and renewable energy grid integration requirements.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

Proactive and self-motivated team player with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, consultants, network providers and internal teams.
