POSITION SUMMARY
The role of Major Correctives Specialist directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a Major Correctives Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and executing on-site Major Correctives projects designated within the Services Department. Major Correctives are considered Major Components replacements using lifting equipment (cranes) and major components repairs up tower such as a Gearbox or a Generator. You will safely direct and mentor technicians to install and replace turbine major components. You will review manuals and schematic diagrams to determine the tasks, tools, equipment, and parts needed, coordinate the plan of the day, help troubleshoot turbine issues (problem-solving), and oversee the day-to-day operations of the technicians assigned to the project. You will work in a field-based role within the Back Office department. This position requires a person to travel as needed for extended periods within the U.S. and Canada.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed Nordex HSE legal requirements.
- HSE responsibilities for Nordex activity at the project:
- Support and/or generate HSE/CINC tickets as needed.
- Support HSE Incident Reporting & HSE Incident Investigation as needed.
- Support Risk assessment definition.
- Control of High-Risk Work.
- Training compliance for any Nordex or subcontractor at the project.
- Oversee HSE Nordex Specific Site Orientation.
- Training workers on site or task-specific information or Nordex-specific processes.
- Safety Supervision (Safety Walks, JSEAs review, PPE inspections).
- Lead LOTO process and records.
- Hazardous Material handling/management.
- Schedule and maintain daily working shifts for technicians and contractors.
- Assists with the management of the tooling for the assigned major corrective project. The initial project set up and maintained tooling inventory during the project duration.
- Perform Specialty Tooling (Rigging equipment) inspections as a competent and trained person.
- Maintains inventories within MC projects scope (Material and Consumables).
- Communicate schedules and work progress with Operations/Customers.
- Complete progress trackers for MC projects.
- Ensures Services Orders are closed and completed on time.
- Support the creation of onsite project planning and execution.
- Maintains and complies with the defined project schedule.
- Performs quality control audits and Safety Walks.
- Support of project cost management including monitoring and validating contractor timesheets.
- Coordinates and supervises manpower and resources on-site for project activities.
- Follows standard Nordex project management processes.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- A 2-year degree in wind turbine technology or a similar field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in Major Corrective projects in the Wind Industry.
- Demonstrated use and understanding of power tools.
- Ability to provide detailed technical reporting of issues within a wind turbine.
- Ability to train other employees in Turbine Operations and Major corrective tasks.
- Able to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Maintain required training certifications such as rigger/signal person certification and crane calling certification.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings, schematics, instructions, and schedules.
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with internet-based programs, MS Office, and ability to generate data and reports using a computer.
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized for employment in the United States and will not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.
- Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 265 lbs. or less.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods and requires working overtime, including flexible and variable work schedules as needed to meet business needs.
- Travel to project sites as required (up to 100% travel).
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.

- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with English-speaking supervisors and team members.
The pay for this role is non-exempt at $33 - $37 hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
