POSITION SUMMARY
The role of Lead Commissioner directly supports the company's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world.
As the Lead Commissioner, you will be responsible for managing on-site operations, assets, and personnel to commission wind farms. You will also plan and coordinate daily work activities for Nordex USA Windpower Commissioning Technicians, subcontractors, and other departments on site while ensuring the quality and operational readiness of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) to achieve substantial completion at each wind farm project.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Schedule daily work activities for Nordex and subcontractor Commissioners and track project progress.
- Provide field support when issues arise and offer technical expertise related to procedures, troubleshooting, and turbine operations.
- Audit commissioning activities to ensure the customer receives a high-quality product.
- Ensure spare parts inventories are maintained, non-conformance reports are completed as required, and cycle counts remain accurate.
- Track monthly inventories of technician tooling, PPE, and vehicle inspections.
- Assist Site Management and Quality Assurance personnel as needed.
- Prepare commissioning reports and progress trackers for various departments and stakeholders.
- Ensure all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines are followed and enforced.
- Verify technicians maintain required certifications, qualifications, and training.
- Support Service activities with post-sales support, including installation of IRTs, LBAs, troubleshooting, and component replacement when necessary.
- Coordinate site demobilization activities, including personnel, tools, equipment, and storage containers upon project completion.
- Ensure company vehicles are maintained, clean, and in good operating condition before return to leasing providers.
- Inventory tooling and assets returned to West Branch, coordinate tool calibration, and ensure PPE recertification before mobilization to future projects.
- Conduct project closeout reviews and communicate lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities to management.

WHAT YOU HAVE
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Wind Energy Technology, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent wind industry experience and training will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Wind Turbine Commissioner role or similar field leadership position.
- Minimum of 2 years of wind turbine generator (WTG) commissioning experience required.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fiber optic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of Nordex and Acciona wind turbine technologies.
- Competent in switching various types of switchgear.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple activities simultaneously, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepare reports.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced field environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
- Strong ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with training, project assignments, and business purposes as required.
- Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment screening requirements, including background checks, motor vehicle record checks, and drug and alcohol testing where permitted by applicable law.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (23 kg).
- Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights exceeding 300 feet (100+ meters).
- Ability to meet the maximum weight requirement of 265 lbs. (120 kg), inclusive of personal protective equipment and tools, as required for fall protection, climbing, rescue, and turbine access equipment.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and remote field environments.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including extended hours, weekends, holidays, and rotational assignments as project needs require.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and successfully complete wind industry safety and rescue training.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a valid driver's license and remain insurable under the Company's auto insurance policy. This position may be subject to periodic Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time at wind farm project sites during active commissioning activities.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States and internationally as business needs require.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and travel internationally for Nordex places the highest priority on the safe operations of its business. As such, we are seeking a candidate who is committed to maintaining and promoting safety standards at all times.

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
- Properly use applicable safety equipment, including but not limited to eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
- Speak and understand English fluently to effectively communicate safety and job-related information, follow safety instructions, and collaborate with supervisors and team members.
The pay for this role is non-exempt at $38.00 - $45.00 USD hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
