POSITION SUMMARY
The role of Lead Commissioner directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Lead Commissioner you will be responsible for managing on-site operations, assets, and personnel to commission wind farms. You will also plan and coordinate daily work activities for Nordex North America Windpower Commissioning Technicians, subcontractors, and other departments on site while assuring the quality working condition of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) to reach substantial Completion at each wind farm.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

Schedules of daily work activities for Nordex and subcontractor Commissioners and track progress.

Provides field support when issues arise, provides technical knowledge about procedures and troubleshooting.

Audits the work being done at the Turbines to ensure the customer receives a quality product.

Ensure all spare parts are accounted for and NC’s are written as necessary, cycle counts are accurate and order parts if needed.

Tracks monthly inventories of Technician tooling, PPE, and Vehicle inspections.

Assists Site and Quality Assurance management as needed.

Prepares reports and progress trackers for commissioning activities to various departments.

Ensures all Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines are met and enforced, training and certifications are up to date.

Provides Service with Post-Sales support with the installation of IRT’s, LBA’s, troubleshooting, and component replacement if necessary.

De-Mobilizes Conexs and personnel at the completion of the project.

Ensure vehicles are clean and in good repair before returning to the lease company.

Inventories all tooling and assets once shipped back to West Branch, schedule tool calibration, and recertification of all PPE before mobilizing to the next project.

Debrief management of all lessons learned and improvement actions necessary to make future projects more successful
WHAT YOU HAVE
-
Associate’s in electrical engineering or technical degree in wind energy preferred; equivalent related work experience and training in the wind industry acceptable (5+ years).

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Wind Turbine Commissioning experience

Knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fiber optics, their function, and repair wind turbines Nordex and Acciona technologies

Competent in switching various types of switchgear.

Strong leadership, communication, organizing, and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to prioritize work, multi-task efficiently, meet deadline obligations, prepare reports, and outline what is best practice.

Have a strong code of ethics and integrity.

Work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required

Demonstrated ability to supervise several activities at once, organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, and prepare reports

Ability to spend 100% of the time at the wind farms during the commissioning process.

Ability to travel domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required and ability to obtain a passport to enter the US.

Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.

Must be able to work in Canada with no Company sponsorship and have the ability to travel in North America for work and training purposes.

Ability to successfully complete all Canadian regulatory laws surrounding pre-employment screening requirements.

Ability to move and manipulate up to 23kg (50 pounds), climb vertical ladders, and work at heights above 100+ meters (300+ feet). Ability to meet specific weight limits of 120 kg (265lbs) max in order to utilize climbing equipment.

The pay for this role is non-exempt at $51.00 - $61.00 CAD hourly with up to a 5% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
