Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) - Drivetrain Concepts Windturbine

YOUR TASKS:

  • Research and stay ahead of emerging drivetrain technologies, materials, and industry trends to drive innovation.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (global engineering, sourcing, service, and others) to define and align project requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external suppliers and research institutes, ensuring efficient knowledge transfer and best practices.
  • Systematically evaluate drivetrain concepts with a focus on reliability, performance, cost, and customer needs.
  • Create and refine technical specifications and test plans for drivetrain components.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to effectively communicate findings and drive decision-making.
  • Support the conceptual and system-level design of drivetrain solutions, ensuring technical feasibility and compliance with industry standards.
  • Lead and support design reviews, supplier discussions, and cross-disciplinary project teams.
  • Engage in limited business travel (approx. 2–5 times per year) to meet with suppliers and stakeholders as required.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A PhD or MBA is considered a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in drivetrain system design, particularly within the wind turbine sector.
  • Deep understanding of (electro-)mechanical drivetrain components such as gears, bearings, couplings, and elastomers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration, including working with engineering, service, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a clear and structured manner.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of German and/or Spanish is advantageous.
