Lead Civil Engineer (m/f/d) - Concrete Structures & Tower Design

REQUISITION ID:  8856
LOCATION:

Hamburg, DE, 22419 Rostock DMR, DE, 18059

DEPARTMENT:  Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in prestressed concrete structures and large-scale construction projects (e.g. towers, bridges, foundations). In this role, you will take ownership of the structural integrity and continuous development of concrete towers for wind turbines. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, technical partners, and authorities to assess damage, resolve design issues, and ensure compliance with national standards.

This role requires a deep understanding of concrete mechanics, FEM analysis, damage evaluation, and approval processes in Germany. If you have previously led major concrete structure projects and are confident in working with regulatory bodies – this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

YOUR TASKS:

  • Assess structural damage to concrete components and lead root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to develop and implement effective repair measures.
  • Design and verify concrete and hybrid tower structures using FEM methods (e.g. ANSYS, Abaqus) to ensure performance under varying load conditions.
  • Improve existing design bases, calculation tools, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to support the continuous development of tower systems.
  • Manage interactions with federal and state building authorities and gain necessary approvals (e.g. abZ, aBG).
  • Contribute to research and innovation projects in Germany and/or Spain.

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Degree in civil engineering (Master’s or PhD), with a focus on prestressed concrete construction.
  • Proven experience in designing and calculating fatigue-stressed concrete or steel structures – ideally with reference projects (e.g. towers, bridges, wind turbine foundations).
  • Solid knowledge of FEM software (e.g. ANSYS, Abaqus) for structural analysis.
  • Hands-on experience in damage assessment, retrofitting, and root cause investigations in concrete structures.
  • Familiarity with DIBt guidelines and national approval procedures (abZ, aBG).
  • Experience in working with regional and federal German building authorities.
  • Structured and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and a confident, proactive personality.
  • Fluency in German and English is required; Spanish is a plus.
