Mechanical Engineer - Wind Turbine Prototype Development (m/f/d)

As a Drive Train System Reliability & Development Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the long-term performance and reliability of our drive train systems. Your focus will be on validating prototypes, analyzing reliability data, and contributing to design improvements for serial production. Working closely with teams across Service and Testing, you will bridge the gap between prototype insights and operational excellence, ensuring our turbines continue to set industry benchmarks for quality and reliability.

 

YOUR TASKS:

  • Define and implement validation plans for drive train systems in new turbine prototypes in collaboration with the System Lead.
  • Conduct reliability performance studies for prototype turbines and those already in operation.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) for field investigations related to drive train systems.
  • Identify design improvements based on reliability studies and validation outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain the drive train system DFMEA and coordinate necessary follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with the System Team to create and update system documentation.

 

YOUR PROFILE:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the wind turbine sector, with a focus on drive train systems.
  • Completed degree in Mechanical Engineering (University or FH).
  • Knowledge and experience with drive train systems, including gears, bearings, and couplings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, ideally with exposure to prototype validation or noise and vibration analysis.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with confidence in stakeholder interactions.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; German or Spanish skills are an advantage.
