Data Governance & Requirements Engineer - Wind Turbine Control (m/f/d)

REQUISITION ID:  12793
LOCATION:

Hamburg, DE, 22419

DEPARTMENT:  Engineering

As part of our Wind Turbine Control team, you will take ownership of the structures, requirements and standards that determine how technical wind turbine data is defined, classified and used throughout the product lifecycle.

In this newly created role, you will work at the intersection of wind turbine control, software development, SCADA and data management. Your focus will be on establishing consistent data models and event classifications that enable reliable analysis of turbine behaviour, alarms and availability.

YOUR TASKS

  • Own the classification, structuring and governance of wind turbine technical data, ensuring alignment with relevant industry standards such as TR10, IEC 61400-26, DNV requirements and other applicable standards.
  • Define and maintain data models, event and alarm classifications, data catalogues and data-quality principles for wind turbine control and operational data.
  • Develop consistent end-to-end data concepts covering the complete turbine lifecycle – from product and software development through commissioning to operation and service.
  • Define how turbine events and operating states are represented and classified, including the distinction between warnings, stops, technical failures and externally caused events.
  • Establish clear requirements for the attribution of turbine events and operational states to support reliable availability calculations, service KPIs and performance analysis.
  • Define interfaces and data flows between control software, engineering databases, SCADA systems and enterprise data platforms.
  • Ensure the consistency, traceability and quality of technical data and definitions across systems and throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Translate technical, operational and regulatory requirements into standardised data structures, specifications and processes that can be implemented by software and data teams.
  • Work closely with software developers, control engineers, SCADA specialists, service organisations and data teams to implement harmonised data structures and event classifications.
  • Coordinate requirements with certification bodies, auditors and external technical stakeholders and provide the necessary technical specifications and evidence for certification activities.
  • Assess new regulatory and normative requirements and determine their impact on existing turbine data structures, classifications and processes.
  • Contribute to or represent Nordex in relevant national and international standardisation activities and working groups.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives aimed at further standardising and harmonising wind turbine data structures across the organisation.

YOUR PROFILE

  • A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Several years of experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering, technical data management, data governance or data modelling in a complex technical environment.
  • A strong understanding of technical systems and their data structures, ideally within wind energy, industrial automation, control systems or another asset-intensive industry.
  • Experience with wind turbine or industrial operational data, alarms, events, SCADA or control systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of standards such as TR10, IEC 61400-26 or relevant DNV standards is a strong advantage; comparable experience working with technical standards and certification requirements is also valuable.
  • Good understanding of data governance, data quality, data architecture and traceability concepts.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into clear specifications, structured data models and implementable requirements.
  • Understanding of software-development and system-integration processes and confidence working closely with software and engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies across complex systems and develop sustainable solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the confidence to coordinate across engineering, software, service, data and external organisations.
  • A structured, independent and solution-oriented way of working.
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.
