Contract Type: Permanent Role
Location: Based at our UK Head Office in Didsbury, Manchester
How can you make a difference?
As the Head of Projects, you will ensure strategic projects within the UK and Ireland follow a clear project plan, outlining all technical and commercial aspects along with the transportation and site execution plans.
You will lead an internal and external project management team ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.
What will you be doing?
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Functional management of the projects team which includes Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Planners and any other associated roles
- Optimising project outcomes through rigorous contract management, claim management and risks and opportunities management, creating necessary transparency to potential optimisation and risks in cooperation with Commercial Project Management.
- Building strong and constructive relationships with customers ensuring customer satisfaction
- Development and delivery of a Projects to Site Operations execution
- Working closely with key suppliers including erection and transportation companies to ensure projects remain on time and within budget
- Ensuring the handovers from the Sales team to the Projects team are delivered in a timely fashion post contract activation
- Working with our colleagues in the Service function to ensure a timely handover of the project in accordance with Nordex procedures
- Identifying and driving continuous improvement across the projects function
- Responsibility for the driving the safety-first culture on all Nordex sites ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, while avoiding harm to our people and the environment
- Chairing monthly progress meetings for all projects, ensuring the team are meeting all KPI’s for the projects
- Developing project lessons learnt for all relevant functions
- Managing performance objectives for the projects team
- Acting as point of escalation for all stakeholders, clients and sub-contractors where required
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar level role within a projects team and will have had full responsibility for multi-million Euro contracts and a portfolio of projects
You will have extensive and complex project management experience including full turnkey projects and have a technical background with a degree level qualification in engineering or an equivalent discipline.
Ideally, you will be a proven leader with experience of working in a fast-paced environment within the energy sector.
Other essential skills and behaviours required or this role include:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong planning and risk management skills
- Willingness to constantly drive a portfolio of complex projects to achieve positive business outcomes
- Desire to work in a fast paced, quick changing environment
- There is a requirement to travel to sites and offices across the UK, Ireland and Europe on a regular basis
- There is a requirement to hold a full UK/EU driving licence
