Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of HSE Manager (Service), which covers windfarms across the UK & Ireland region

Contract Type:  Permanent

Location:  This role can be based in the UK or Ireland but will include frequent travel to our offices and service points across the UK and Ireland region

Hours: The working hours for this role are 37 hours per week, which includes a 3pm finish on Fridays.

 

 

How can you make a difference?

 

As a HSE Manager (Service), you will support our service teams with advice and guidance on national legislation and industry requirements. 

 

You will work with our teams and provide constructive suggestions on how processes can be improved ensuring Health & Safety is a key priority at Nordex. 

 

 

 

What will you be doing? 

 

Key responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Assisting operational managers in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near-misses and unsafe behaviour/conditions, and the determination and implementation of suitable corrective and preventive actions. This also includes managing the reports and actions and liaising with authorities as appropriate.
  • Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated.
  • Assisting our teams across Sales, Regional Service Managers, Local Operations Managers, Service staff and Major Components Exchange teams with project/site related H&S issues. 

These can include the following:

  • Advise on pre-qualification and contractual requirements
  • Support development of site H&S plans/statements
  • Perform joint site inspections with the site managers and local/regional leadership
  • Perform HSE audits
  • Advise on remedial actions and track completion
  • Advise on requirements for H&S documentation
  • Assisting Service staff with O&M phase H&S issues
  • Assessing and auditing contractors to ensure suitability for local use
  • Becoming a “critical friend” to Regional managers, Site Managers and Local Operation Managers.
  • Building a strong working relationship with client and windfarm managers’ HSE staff.
  • Driving to close out actions raised via the company’s HSE consultation process.
  • Championing communication on HSE matters to employees.
  • Pursuing external demonstration of QHSE excellence (awards, presentations)
  • Supporting our construction project teams when required

 

 

 

What are we looking for? 

 

The successful candidate will have significant experience of HSE management , preferably within the wind industry and hold a Health and Safety qualification (preferably Level 6) but other level qualifications will be considered. 

 

You will have experience of working in a similar role and have strong practical experience of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, which includes an understanding of heavy lifting operations and working safely at height. 

 

You will have the ability to manage multiple workstream and priorities and be able to prioritise your own work in line with pre-agreed deliverables and dates.

 

You will have the ability to learn quickly about all aspects of wind farms including the technology of wind turbines and the Nordex way of working.  You’ll need to have a good head for heights and be capable of passing a medical to ensure you can do this role safely. 

 

Other skills and behaviours required for this role include:

 

  • An excellent knowledge of the legal HSE context in both the UK & Ireland
  • A balanced approach to risk management
  • An ability to objectively analyse situations and develop practical solutions.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The determination, creativity and good humour to work through the inevitable challenges we face in a rapidly growing and changing business & market
  • Excellent IT skills, especially in Word, Excel, Powerpoint (SAP beneficial)
  • UK/EU Driving Licence
  • This role will require frequent travel and nights away from home
