Contract Manager New Zealand

The Contract Manager New Zealand is responsible for the effective management of project contractual obligations, commercial risks, notifications and customer-facing contractual matters throughout the project lifecycle. The role works closely with the Project Manager, supporting the successful execution of projects by ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements, protecting the company's commercial interests and maintaining proactive management of contractual communications with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders. This position plays a critical role in risk mitigation, claims management, change management and contract administration, ensuring alignment with company policies and project objectives.

YOUR TASKS: 

• Lead the end-to-end contract management of major renewable energy projects, ensuring successful delivery from project award through to final completion and close-out.
• Act as Nordex’s primary contractual representative, managing customer-facing contractual matters and building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables and notification requirements while protecting Nordex’s commercial interests.
• Drive the proactive identification, assessment and mitigation of contractual and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead the preparation, submission and management of contractual notices, claims, variations and change orders in accordance with contract requirements.
• Support commercial negotiations related to claims, variations, extensions of time, contractual amendments and dispute resolution.
• Partner closely with Project Management, Procurement, Legal, Finance and other key functions to ensure effective contract administration and commercial alignment.
• Monitor contractual performance and provide clear reporting on key risks, claims, opportunities and commercial exposures to support informed decision-making.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting best practices in contract management, governance and commercial excellence.

YOUR PROFILE:

• 8+ years of experience in Contract Management, Commercial Management, Project Management or Project Controls within the renewable energy, infrastructure, construction or engineering sectors.
• 5+ years of experience managing complex commercial contracts across large-scale projects, from contract award through to project completion.
• Proven expertise in contract administration, including claims, variations, change orders, contractual notifications and dispute resolution.
• Strong understanding of EPC, construction, supply and service contracts, together with contract law principles and commercial risk management.
• Demonstrated success negotiating commercial outcomes and managing customer-facing contractual relationships in complex project environments.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Degree qualification in Law, Commerce, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline; formal certification in Contract, Commercial or Project Management will be highly regarded.
• Exceptional negotiation, influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and drive positive business outcomes.
• Commercially minded and highly organised professional with strong analytical skills, sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify risks and develop practical mitigation strategies in a fast-paced project environment.
