Position Summary:

As the VP of Sourcing, you will work closely with the Global Sourcing & Procurement teams and lead the U.S. team to bring new initiatives, identify and develop new local suppliers, and drive cost-out opportunities in the U.S. and lead procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively enable business units and functional partners to maximize the value they receive from suppliers to meet their objectives. The VP of Sourcing will work with business units to lead centralized direct and indirect sourcing and procurement efforts. This will include working with the internal stakeholders from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery. Specifically,  this role will be responsible for the following processes: demand management, supply analysis/strategy, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiation, delivery planning and monitoring, purchase execution, and ongoing performance management and improvement.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, lead, and develop the U.S. procurement team to maximize performance.
  • Create and build a team environment while providing direction, knowledge, and support with prioritization of work and allocation of department resources as needed.
  • Implements and complies with all overall procurement strategies, identifying and evolving best practices and molding the Nordex organization to ensure meeting ongoing business needs and goals.
  • Drives, proactively, process development (streamlining and aligning) to identify the scope and lead improvement projects related to Global Sourcing processes, optimizing data collection and flow across the organization. Through annual strategy deployment process drive the U.S. supply chain performance improvements.
  • Manages supplier risk and drives commercial improvements across a matrix organization.
  • Develops and maintains the budget for the U.S. procurement department.
  • Identify cost-out opportunities, align with global sourcing teams, and secure implementation.
  • Identifies and implements opportunities for suppliers in the U.S. & Canadian regions to achieve higher value-add production.
  • Leads U.S. initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the Nordex supply chain operations; ensures transparency and consolidates relevant data for global procurement strategies and objectives.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent; MBA or MS degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering preferred
  • 7-10 years Global Sourcing experience dealing with complex and diversified procurement/sourcing
  • At least 10 years of senior supply management experience overseeing a team of sourcing & procurement professionals who are geographically dispersed - preferably within the wind or power industry.
  • Creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches to procurement challenges
  • Ability to operate, influence, and counsel at the most senior level within your function and with people at all levels including suppliers
  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
  • Strong negotiation skills for use on very large and complex commercial deals
  • Familiarity with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as an understanding of standard contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk
  • Strong interpersonal, management, organizational and intercultural skills
  • Experience Implementing and Managing ERP Systems; JDE and/or SAP preferred.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bi-lingual in English and German preferred
  • Travel is required as an essential element of the job
