POSITION SUMMARY
The role of Sales Engineer directly supports the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As a Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for addressing technical sales issues related to the wind turbine and the wind farm, assisting the sales team from a technical perspective. Your goal is to help win projects, build customer relationships, and assure the technical validity of proposals as well as supply and service contracts. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing technical solutions during the sales process from pre-acquisition to handover to the Project Management team. Additionally, this position serves as the interface between technical experts and customers. This requires collaboration for the preparation of proposals and negotiation of contracts for Wind Turbine Supply Agreements and Services.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Responds to technical queries from customers and from Sales Managers.
- Prepares technical replies for sales offers/tender and deviation lists when necessary.
- Manages the technical review and coordinates internal technical departments.
- Acts as the first point of contact for customers relating to technical questions in the sales process.
- Participates in client meetings (when necessary) to clarify and/or negotiate the technical scope including preparing and conducting technical presentations/documents.
- Prepares and negotiates Turbine Supply Agreements (“owning” all of the technical contract exhibits including technical Scope of Supply, Power Curve / Noise Warranty, etc.
- Supports the development and optimization of technical solutions (e.g. optimal turbine selection for project) and sells the project from a technological perspective
- Supports the development of specific technical solutions (new / project specific options)
- Supports and follows up on Wind & Site requests & Site Assessment Reports, including customer information about turbine suitability.
- Keeps Sales Managers up to date with all relevant technical information (in particular power and thrust curve).
- Identifies and compiles technical market requirements/ trends including interconnection requirements, environmental/climatic conditions, wind regimes, grid and land constraints, active and reactive power control, voltage, frequency, CMS and cyber security.
- Standardizes and continuously develops and improves the technical sales process.
- Arranges (if necessary) confidentiality agreements and exchanges information with external consultants / suppliers (e.g. PSSE/PSCAD models, foundation loads, transportation/ access road requirements, electrical specs, etc.)
- Assists in preparation of Gate 2/3 (in particular the technical risk analysis – Gate Assessment Report)
- Prepares technical Hand Over to Project Management team who will be responsible for building the project. Prepares change requests as necessary for project specific technical solutions to be implemented, e.g. sector management, SCADA, CMS, etc.
- Prepares and updates the technical Turbine Configuration information for all projects in the operational planning process
- Travels to project sites and customer meetings required, approximately 25% of the time
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU HAVE
- 5-7 years of relevant Sales Engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Energy production/distribution knowledge
- Knowledge of alternative energy solutions and regulatory framework
- Competence in MS Office applications
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- High integrity and motivation
- Understanding of intercultural issues in communication
- Proactive and result oriented approach with strategic and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel on a regular basis
- Willingness and ability to learn, self-manage and to keep abreast of changing technical and Regulatory issues independently
- Travel to project sites as required (up to 25% travel)
- Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.

The pay for this role is exempt at $110k - $115k USD salary with up to a 10% bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
