Position Summary:

The Projects Planner will be responsible for overseeing the planning of projects in North America related to Turbine Supply agreements. This includes taking ownership of the planning process from the activation date to take over date, in coordination with internal and external stakeholders such as the global planning function and Region management. The Projects Planner will analyze project scopes, including manufacturing, deliveries, site activities, commissioning, tooling, and others, and prepare project schedules for Inland Logistics and Project Execution in accordance with client specifications and input from the Projects team. Additionally, the project planner will be responsible for producing weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner.

 

The project planner will also be responsible for identifying risks and opportunities related to project planning and communicating them to the organization during the approval process. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in Primavera P6 software, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the planning process for projects related to Turbine Supply agreements in North America
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including the global planning function and Region management
  • Analyze project scopes and prepare project schedules for Inland Logistics and Project Execution
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports in a timely manner, along with supervising the production of the POD, delay reports, and progress reports from the site teams.
  • Identify risks and opportunities related to project planning and communicate them to the organization during the approval process
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to ensure successful project planning and execution
  • Control project progress and performance at each stage, in addition to the production of weekly and daily construction progress curves, supervising they are updated correctly.
  • Assist the PM, PM Team, and Contract Manager in any delay claim to the Customer or Subcontractor
  • Prepare weekly construction plan based on Primavera P6 schedule and current status, analyze bottlenecks and limitations of the construction of the project and critical path.
  • Assess and consequentially approve/reject of extension of time based on claims received from contractors
  • Monitoring and updating of the schedule of the construction/assembly process
  • Include proposed changes in the schedule and check the feasibility.
  • Identify and anticipate supplies and logistics problems related to the supply of materials that jeopardize planning compliance.
  • Identify and analyze the deviations from the Logistics Plan. Report the deviations from the Logistics Plan to those directly responsible. Control deviations caused by stoppages and lack of materials/components.
  • Simulate different scenarios over the medium and long term to see impacts and check possible improvements.
  • Coordination of work schedules with production (Site Manager) and material management, logistics and warehouse. (Prepare materials - identify early stock shortages due to breakages).
  • Compile assembly times and request changes if needed to be updated.
  • Analyze of extension of time, and calculate the projection of the schedule considering the Extension of Time of the different activities, for risk assessment analysis, change orders, claims, and any other.
  • Elaboration of the weekly construction plan, 4 weeks ahead and 4 days ahead planning based on Primavera considering all the different issues that may have an impact such as crane movement, slopes, weather conditions…
  • Produce monthly, weekly, and daily reports about the development of the works and critical points, analyzing deviations from the initial schedule, and providing management with precise information regarding the status of the works.
  • Determine the key dates, and milestones and organize the project in Primavera to control these dates, calculating the critical path, to ensure correct planning compliance. In case the schedule is not achieved report deviations.
  • Track the Planning buffers and alert the key stakeholders about the status.
  • Update the projects and works schedule, gathering the information needed from each discipline and subcontractor, entering it into the Primavera program, analyzing, identifying and notifying any deviations to enable their prediction and correction, proposing priorities, future scenarios, and action plans to recover from the delays.
  • Prepare weekly construction plan based on Primavera P6 schedule and current status, analyze bottlenecks and limitations of the construction of the project and critical path.
  • Assess and consequentially approve/reject of extension of time based on claims received from customers or contractors
  • As part of the Projects team, the Projects Planner has direct communication with all the functions within the PM community (PMs, operations, back office, others)

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience); advanced degree a plus
  • 3 years of experience in Wind Projects, energy projects, or construction projects as a project planner or projects planner.
  • Complete fluency with the whole Primavera P6 (advanced level)
  • Extensive performance data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strengths will include excellent negotiation skills, great communication ability, and positive leadership traits, along with in-depth knowledge of the TSA contracts and Project management.
  • Demonstrated successful interaction with internal and external stakeholders (teamwork)
  • Prior experience as a planner or planning manager for different construction or energy contracts, such as multiple large-scale  wind projects
  • Working understanding of cost accounting, budgeting, and contract implementation
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. French is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and proven teamwork skills
  • Proven track of resourcefulness and ingenuity in resolving project-based challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to plan several projects at once, prioritize work, meet deadlines, prepare reports, and generate best practice guidelines
  • Travel availability to travel on demand, for contract negotiation and wind market events, on demand.
  • Ability to communicate via effective PowerPoint presentations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization  
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to perform the work to accomplish objectives
  • Knowledge for Project site execution of wind projects and/or energy projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizing, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task efficiently, meet deadline obligations, prepare reports, and outline what is best practice.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently with a high level of results orientation as demonstrated by the identification of deviations, risks, and opportunities during contract negotiations and quotations.
  • The ability to obtain a passport for overseas travel required
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to travel to domestic and international locations to project sites and on business as required (20% travel) and ability to obtain a passport.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver’s license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver’s abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
