Position Summary:

As the Installation Quality Manager (IQA Manager) You will be responsible for leading the Site Quality team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality wind turbine installation & commissioning across multiple projects.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, ensuring Quality Management oversite, tracking & escalation on site at each project. The Installation Quality Manager acts as the primary point of contact for Site Quality activities, driving continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence through structured training, performance management, and global alignment initiatives.

 

You will oversee all projects under construction in North America to ensure the proper management of NCRs, LPAs, technical support & special inspections. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders such as Global PM/EPC, Global Engineering, Global Quality, and Services NA will be essential to meet the demands of all North America projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, quality management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Nordex safety protocols and procedures during all operations. 
  • Coordinates with functional areas to ensure constructions sites are prepared with appropriate Site Quality personal, equipment & ISPs to execute the required Quality Management activities for the site following federal, state, and local policies, practices, and procedures during project execution.
  • Ensure all team members and subcontractors receive necessary technical and safety training, and facilitate ongoing team development through training programs and career advancement opportunities
  • Reports to the Director of Quality on Site Quality activities, team performance, and escalation topics.  Also coordinating with project PQMs when required.
  • Support the Site Quality teams in their roles on site. Working closely with Site Management teams &, TA Manager to ensure Site Quality integrated fully at a site level.
  • Coordinate and manage Site Quality Lead & Techs across multiple project locations to secure operational success.
  • Ensure alignment with Nordex GLF Installation Quality standards by collaborating with global teams and facilitating knowledge transfer.
  • Manage risks and develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions during component deliveries, installations, and commissioning processes. 
  • Develop and monitor departmental KPIs, ensuring performance meets strategic objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support innovation within the Installation Quality department.
  • Plan and oversee training activities for Installation Quality, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Identify skill gaps and implement development plans to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Mentor and coach Site Quality to build technical competency and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Travel to project sites (up to 30% travel)

Requirements: 

  • Strengths will include excellent communication skills, organizational ability, and positive leadership traits, along with in-depth knowledge and use of negotiation skills
  • Extensive experience in quality management and quality control processes, with a strong background in Wind Turbine Assembly and installation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications for project management and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed for project coordination and supervision.
  • Ability to dedicate time at wind farms during the construction process, overseeing and coordinating project activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in WTG on-site assembly and installation, with understanding of quality management principles.
  • Ability to meet specific OSHA and ANSI weight limits of 250 to 300 lbs. max for on-site activities and inspections.
  • Proven leadership skills, project coordination experience, and the ability to lead a team of supervisors effectively in a dynamic project environment. Experience managing technical resources
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task efficiently, meet deadline obligations, prepare reports, and outline what is best practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to climb towers up to 400 feet and to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems independently with a high level of results orientation as demonstrated by the identification of non-conformities, completion of punch lists and themapplication of a structured approach to mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to obtain a passport for overseas travel required
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Fluency in Spanish, French or German is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline required (or equivalent work experience in lieu of Engineering degree); advanced degree a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality management and employee supervision experience; Wind Farm mechanical construction experience preferred.
