Payroll & Benefits Administrator (m/f/d)

As a People and Culture Payroll & Benefits Administrator your duties will include the management of employee data, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, computing wages, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. You will assist the payroll process of our company and oversee all administrative activities related to payroll and processing payroll on a regular basis. You will manage administrative activities related to benefits, as well, while in conjunction with and supporting an organization’s People and Culture department. To be successful as a Payroll & Benefits Administrator you should have strong numeracy skills, be able to multitask effectively with high attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

 

Responsibilities:

 

Payroll Administration:

  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and compliantly processing biweekly payroll for US and Canada.
  • Prepares and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
  • Manages Paid Time Off (PTO) and Leave records
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS. Create reports on demand.
  • Provides information and answers employee questions about payroll-related matters and the HRIS system.
  • Responsible for month-end duties including generating payroll journal entries, payroll accruals, and reconciling the general ledger.
  • Gathers and maintains reports and data pertaining to FMLA and EEO-1 reporting.
  • Ad hoc reporting.
  • Administrative duties as needed.

 

Benefits Administration:

  • Develops an in-depth understanding of all employee & volunteer benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), etc.
  • Process and maintain records of tuition reimbursements and gym membership reimbursements.
  • Administer student debt repayment program.
  • Processes monthly invoicing, ensuring timely payment; prepares billing reconciliation reports.
  • Ensures accuracy of all benefit enrollments and provides vendors with accurate information. Update HRIS with new and changing information.
  • Assists in completing annual reporting for employee benefits: ACA, 401k plans, etc.
  • Completes and submits unemployment requests.
  • Assists in Open Enrollment.
  • Administrative duties as needed.

 

General HR Duties:

  • Participates in the new employee onboarding experience.
  • Respond to employment verifications and surveys as needed.
  • Ensures all required reporting, forms, and posters are up to date and maintained accurately.
  • Provides backup duties for the People & Culture team.
  • Administrative duties as needed.

 

Requirements:

 

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration or Human Resources
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Degree in Human Resources, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
  • Proficiency in payroll software and HRIS systems; knowledge of multi-state payroll administration
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize as well as remain highly organized
  • Knowledge of benefit programs including health insurance, disability, 401(k), etc.
