Group Lead - ITO Applications

Job Purpose: The Group Leader – ITO Applications is responsible for providing local line management, coordination, and operational oversight for application-related roles based in the Chennai hub within a global matrix organization.The role ensures effective integration of local teams into global application functions, while driving people management, coordination, and operational stability. The position operates in close alignment with global application owners and product teams, who retain functional leadership and technical ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Local Line Management & P&C Coordination
- Act as the local line manager for Chennai-based application teams
- Manage people-related and administrative activities, including:
- Leave and attendance management
- Time tracking and approvals
- Onboarding and offboarding processes
- Ensure compliance with local HR policies, statutory requirements, and organizational guidelines
- Support performance management processes in collaboration with global functional leads
2. Team Coordination & Operational Management
- Coordinate day-to-day operations of the Chennai applications hub
- Ensure effective management of:
- Resource availability and team coverage
- Workload distribution and visibility
- Holiday and shift planning
- Act as the first escalation point for operational or capacity-related issues
- Enable smooth collaboration across global teams and time zones
3. Matrix Collaboration & Functional Alignment
- Ensure Chennai-based resources are aligned and integrated with global application teams
- Support global stakeholders in:
- Capacity planning
- Work prioritization transparency
- Cross-team dependency management
- Escalate conflicts, risks, or workload concerns to global application leads or leadership
4. Service Operations & Quality Assurance
- Support adherence to global IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and application lifecycle processes
- Track and monitor operational performance indicators such as:
- Incidents
- Change requests
- Service requests
- Promote a culture of service excellence, quality, ownership, and continuous improvement
5. People Development & Capability Building
- Drive effective onboarding and knowledge transfer programs
- Support development of team capabilities aligned with:
- Global application strategies
- Future technology roadmaps
- Encourage continuous learning and skill enhancement within the team

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
- 12-19 years of experience in:
- Application management
- IT operations or service delivery roles
- Prior experience in:
- Team coordination
- Technical leadership or people management
- Working in a matrix organization
