Drive Train Noise & Vibration Engineer

REQUISITION ID:  11496
LOCATION:

Chennai, TN, IN, 600119

DEPARTMENT:  Engineering

Your Tasks:

  • Develop and maintain detailed Alaska/Simpack drivetrain models of wind turbine drivetrains, including gearboxes, shafts, bearings, couplings, and generators.
  • Create flexible bodies using super‑element methods from ANSYS / HyperMesh FE models.
  • Perform 1-D torsional vibration and dynamic load analyses under various operating conditions (normal operation, transient events, grid faults, etc.).
  • Prepare campbell plots, identify critical speeds, resonance risks, and fatigue-related issues, and propose design improvements to enhance system reliability.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze and model noise emissions from wind turbines using advanced simulation tools and measurement techniques.
  • Develop and implement design modifications to reduce aerodynamic and mechanical noise and tonalities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including aerodynamics, structural engineering, and control systems to integrate noise reduction strategies.
  • Support field measurements and validation tests to assess acoustic performance.
  • Stay up to date with international noise regulations and standards relevant to wind energy.
  • Support certification processes and liaise with external stakeholders regarding acoustic compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation for internal and external use

Your Profile:

  • Bacheler's/Master 's degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable degree
  • 5+ years in position related to NVH topics
  • Proven experience in Torsional vibration analysis and multi-body simulation of rotating machinery.
  • Proficiency in Simpack; experience with additional tools (e.g., ALASKA, SimulationX) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of wind turbine drivetrain components (gearboxes, couplings, bearings, generators).
  • Knowledge of vibration theory, modal analysis, and fatigue assessment.
  • Relevant experience in Wind Industry is an advantage.
