Purpose of Role

Nordex Energy South Africa has 1.1GW of installed capacity over 9 wind farms. The coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting maintenance and operations management of multiple wind farms and is responsible for supporting operational outcomes and ensuring minimal disruption to operations, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to safety.

 

Key Responsibilities [Key Performance Areas]

Operational and Health & Safety:

  • Support the implementation and compliance of Nordex HSE policies, standards, systems, practices

 

Reporting

  • Provide monthly reports with analytical data regarding maintenance metrics, costs, and asset performance:
  • Wind Farm Work Order Performance Monitoring
  • Work Order Closure Rate
  • Workforce Efficiency/ productivity
  • Preventative Maintenance progress
  • Retrofits / SN/TNs
  • Major corrective plans
  • Spare Parts Consumption

 

Planning & Scheduling

  • Produce efficient, reliable and cost-effective service schedules to meet contractual obligations and customer needs
  • Coordinate activities on various wind farms - ensure efficiency and effectiveness (Tooling, manpower, materials)
  • Develop and manage weekly/daily maintenance schedules for each wind farm prioritising preventative maintenance and urgent tasks and coordinating with the Local operations manager and Site Lead.

 

Operations

  • Act as a central point of contact for maintenance information, updating LoM, Site Lead and management
  • Main contact for the Service Technicians

 

Best Practice Implementation and Compliance Management

  • Responsible at fleet level for implementing Nordex and Industry best Practices related to:
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Work Planning and Control
  • Materials Management
  • Implementation and use of planning tools and philosophies

 

Materials Management

  • Check regular material availability, ordering additional supplies as required
  • Creating material demands based on annual maintenance plan requirements

 

Contractor Management

  • Ensures that plant-based contractors are fulfilling their required performance standards as legally contracted.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, track maintenance costs, and process invoice,
  • Manage scope, scheduling, and performance of Subcontractors with Local Operations Manager

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Minimum of electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, Facilities Management BTech/BEng preferred (or NQF equivalent)
  • Good technical understanding of major plant equipment, systems, and processes.
  • Solid experience in plant maintenance and operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wind farm systems and operations
  • Proven excellent safety record OHS Act knowledge - Health and Safety.
  • Specialist use of ERP/CMMS systems – e.g. SAP
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word and Excel is required. Competence in PowerPoint is an advantage
  • Valid Code B driver’s license is a requirement
