POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Port Lead Supervisor directly supports Nordex's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. In this role, you will lead and coordinate port, laydown yard, and cargo storage operations associated with wind turbine component logistics and vessel discharge activities. As the primary onsite representative for port logistics operations, you will ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vessel discharge, inventory management, component preservation, transportation coordination, and contractor performance.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction while supporting renewable energy projects throughout North America.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead onsite vessel discharge operations from vessel arrival through completion of unloading activities.
  • Coordinate daily operations with stevedores, crane operators, terminal personnel, vessel crews, transportation providers, and port authorities.
  • Monitor vessel discharge progress and productivity to maintain project schedules.
  • Verify the safe handling and movement of wind turbine components including blades, towers, nacelles, hubs, drivetrains, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Ensure components are discharged, stored, preserved, and released in accordance with project requirements and company procedures.
  • Oversee storage yard operations, inventory management, and component tracking activities.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and field inspections while promoting a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company, customer, environmental, port authority, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents and support implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for logistics operations and stakeholder communications.
  • Provide operational updates, identify risks, and support mitigation and recovery planning.
  • Support transportation loading activities and cargo release coordination.
  • Inspect cargo condition and document damage, shortages, and non-conformances.
  • Maintain daily reports, inventory records, inspection documentation, and turnover packages.
  • Supervise contractors and service providers performing port and storage yard activities.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, productivity, and operational expectations.
  • Assist with operational planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Operations, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in port operations, heavy-lift logistics, project cargo, maritime operations, renewable energy logistics, or related industries.
  • Experience supervising contractors and third-party service providers.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel discharge operations and heavy-lift cargo handling.
  • Understanding of inventory control, warehouse operations, and component preservation practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and non-conformance management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Canada and the United States as required.
  • Ability to work in active marine terminals, industrial facilities, laydown yards, and construction environments.
  • Ability to meet site-specific fitness-for-duty and access requirements.
  • Experience supporting utility-scale wind energy projects.
  • Wind energy and turbine logistics experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing HSE and quality programs within logistics operations.
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial construction projects.
  • Bilingual (English/French) skills are considered an asset.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • This position may require travel to the United States for training, project support, and business-related activities.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain all required travel documentation, including the ability to enter the United States.
  • Successful candidates may be required to complete reference checks, background screening, and other pre-employment requirements in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
